What type of anaesthetic should I have?

We understand that a dental visit is not everyone’s cup of tea. We offer different sedation techniques to help you relax during your dental procedure and to ensure that you finally have that toothache dealt with.

All dental procedures can be performed using either oral sedation, local anaesthetic (LA), intravenous sedation (IV) or general anaesthesia (GA).

Sometimes a combination of methods will be used.

Our dentists will go through each option with you and the choice will depend on the complexity of your procedure, any existing medical problems and your own preference.

General Anaesthetic procedures will be referred out to the relevant specialist.

If a child requires a general anaesthetic, they will be referred to a specialist Paediatric Dentist for treatment.
